January 27 - Detroit, MI  From Los Angeles to Detroit, Californian native rapper Nipsey Hussle touched down in the Motor City for a meet and greet with fans upon the release of his first studio album Victory Lap.

Fans lined up starting at around 4:30pm at Villa Grandriver (1510 Grand River Ave) for a chance to meet and get an autographed copy of Nipsey's album. Hosted by DJBJ of Hot 1075 broadcasting live on the radio, the line filled quickly.

After arriving, Nipsey was greatd by fans with gifts and copies of his album. The love that the city showed was as if he was born right here in the city. Nipsey signed autographs on the inserts of the album as well as other items that the fans requested.

After a series of chart topping mixtapes, Nipsey is bringing that California street sound back to the scene. Nipsey's west coast sound is a pure mixture of street and conscious rap. The album creates an interesting juxtaposition of the life that is reality and the need to address the issue plaguing the streets.

The 16 track studio album features a host of heavy hitters. The powerful list includes fellow LA rapper YG, Puff Daddy, LA conscious rapper Kendrick Lamar, The Dream, CeeLo Green, Marsha Ambrosius, Dom Kennedy, and a few others. This array of feature talent gives the album a feel that has immense diversity in sound and content.

Nipsey set out to be the voice of the struggle and the overcomers. In the booklet of the CD, Nipsey makes a powerful dedication:

This album is dedicated to the genius that the hood Produces and Destroys by virtue of its nature..and the young boys and girls that experience the emotional roller coaster of trying to navigate...understand...and ultimately Outsmart its finality. Life is a Marathon...to find meaning in its Process is a Victory."
